FAQ

Global Questions

Here are few questions which may come to your mind if you are seeking out therapy or exploring your path to mental wellbeing.

Therapy is a process, where you can speak and share your distress and feelings with an unbiased trained professional. People usually decide to talk to a therapist when the pain of what they are trying to cope with becomes too big for them to handle on their own and they recognize they need help.

In the first session, the therapist aims to understand your key concerns, the motivation for you to seek help. The therapist will listen to you actively without judgement and will ask relevant questions to understand your situation. By the end of the first session, a brief analysis of the concerns and next steps would be discussed.

Each session lasts for 45- 50 mins.
Will the therapist judge me ? . Absolutely not. The therapist is an unbiased trained professional who is there to help and support you.

We use Cognitive Behaviour Therapy Techniques, along with mindfulness & meditation to support you in your growth journey. Cognitive Behavior Therapy Techniques are solution focused and addresses the thinking, behaviour and feelings of the individual.

There are many benefits of taking therapy. Therapy sessions provide support, a safe space to express, develop problem solving skills, learn coping techniques for issues such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders, relationship troubles, grief, stress management, body image issues etc. The help you obtain from therapy depends on how well you use the process and practice what you learn.

Yes, the discussions and information shared is confidential in a therapy session, unless the client gives prior permission. However, there are some exceptions required by law to this rule. Exceptions include:

Ø  Suspected child abuse or elder abuse. The therapist is required to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.

Ø  If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person. The therapist is required to notify the police.

Ø  If a client intends to harm himself or herself. The therapist will make every effort to work with the individual to ensure their safety. However, if an individual does not cooperate, additional measures may need to be taken.

The therapist will not and cannot prescribe you medication. For medication you will have to get in touch with a psychiatrist or your general physician. Therapist uses natural mind and brain techniques to help your situation.

In some cases a combination of medication and therapy is the right course of action. Working with your doctor you can determine what’s best for you. It is well established that mental and emotional problems, and the pain they cause, cannot be solved solely by medication in the long-term. Instead of treating the symptom, therapy focuses on healing the potential causes of our distress. An integrative approach to wellbeing is helpful for a sustainable life.
